Navigating Urban Environments

Navigating the urban environment is what we deal with most often. Rarely do we ever get a call about a problem for a tree or pest that is not related or in some way caused by the urban context in which we live. There are several factors of the urban setting that significantly affect our work.
Proximity
The urban environment is fairly dense. People live and work in close proximity. Pest problems and issues with trees are never focused on a single property. Trees are affected by the hardscapes in which they exist. Pests are often able to flourish on one property, and the other properties around that property are affected.
Globalization
Ants, bees, spiders, the global nature of our environment are imported from all over the world. Trees are often placed on properties that they would never grow on naturally. Weed species are introduced that can ravage acres of land. Pathogens cross oceans and wreak havoc on California Oak Tree populations.
