Service with a Smile?

What does it mean to be of service?

For me, service is not merely smiling pleasantly and doing good work. (Not that that isn’t a part of it, of course!) Service is a way of life. Service is the mode of being that I choose in this world.

In another blog post I wrote for my NathanielEvans.com site, I discuss two different philosophies of life. Check that post out here: http://nathanielevans.com/voice-lessons/manipulating-known-quantities-for-personal-gain-v-making-a-contribution-of-intrinsic-value/

What struck me before I wrote that post was how strange and inhuman it is to come into life from the place of trying to gain money, with money being the primary motivating factor. If instead one comes into life, into business, and into relationships with the intention to be of service, to contribute something of intrinsic value, the experiences will be radically different from much of what goes on in the business world today. To intend to serve from one’s heart is to be a success.

When a pest control customer calls us for service, or sends us an email (408-882-7535 or evanspestmanagement@gmail.com) or simply views our website (evanspestmanagement.com), the idea I have is to be of service to that person. Yes, in business money changes hands. Yes, we charge commensurate with what it costs to live and work in the San Francisco Bay Area. And yes, we are interested in serving you as one human being to another. Whatever pest management or tree care service you may need, we are happy, even blessed, to be of service. Oh yes, and you can count on us to smile.
